Medieval tower
The tower is one of the testimonies of the medieval defensive structures existing in Rivoli apart from a small portion of town walls, not far from it. The large size of the tower, compact and squared, leads us to guess that it was a proper tower-house, in which the owner could live. On the tower it is still possible to see the original upper battlement now covered by the roof. The name of the tower dates back to the 19th century when it was incorporated in a spinning-mill complex. In the surroundings, as it is depicted in the Theatrum Sabaudiae, there was also the Civic Tower, destroyed by the French troops led by Catinat in 1696; the debris was used to erect the choir of the Church of Santa Croce.
